Mammalian Diving Reflex view innovative artistic interventions as a way to trigger generosity and equity. It is a research-art atelier dedicated to investigating the social sphere, always on the lookout for contradictions to whip into aesthetically scintillating experiences. They are a culture production workshop for site and social-specific performance events, gallery-based participatory installations, video products, art objects and theoretical texts.
Maiden Erlegh School in Reading is a brand new secondary school in the heart of East Reading and is already overbooked for the new year 7's next year. 30 pupils from this school will be participating in this project and are all excited to be part of the Reading Year of Culture 2016 and to work with the artists from Mammalian Diving Reflex.
This project builds on the Department of Art's ongoing engagement with local schools involving students and artists as active participants. Working with internationally renowned artists realising new work to ambitious scale will promote our vision of new art education by making visible what we believe is an original and innovative approach to involving children with contemporary art.
